There are pics of each fry-type and with immense pride I am thrilled to declare that two of the entries were based upon crinkle-cut (CC) fries. Even more thrilling is that the winner, the Applewood Smoked Bacon French Fry was the leader of the pack.
I am not surprised that the winner was a crinkle-cut. Sure, any fry-type can convey the tastes that added spices and other goodies convey but the mighty CC fries have an inherent tastiness provided by their unique shape that has a special texture that aids the yummines factor.
Maybe there is a scientific reason why CC’s are unique. Maybe the extra exposed outer layer assists in a better frying event. However, the CC uniqueness comes through even when baked instead of fried. I will search for any scientific studies covering this phenomenon and convey it to the crinkle-cut aficionados of the world.
